I do have to stand up for this middle of the middle coffee shop and say that it's one of the nicer establishments in the city.
I do not like Starbucks. The atmosphere tries to be welcoming but I just feel a bit uncomfortable and the coffee is some of the worst in the city centre chains (try an espresso and you'll know what I'm talking about)
Costa is a friendly, albeit pricey little place that sits right in the centre of Castle Court, open to the shops and not really an actual unit. It's a nice place to sit and read the paper or sit aimlessly browsing the web and watching bizarre videos on YouTube.
The coffees are rather large too. The double espresso I had last time was spot on though, rich, smoky and naturally sweet and bitter in the same instance. -

The location of this Costa is great, what a view!! Also great as there's free wifi. Coffee tastes good and is piping hot. Staff excellent

Note: all my recent vacation in Ireland Yelp reviews will have the same 1st paragraph preamble, for just the review itself skip to the 2nd paragraph.
On a whirlwind 2 week vacation to Ireland, the girlfriend & I tried to see & experience absolutely as much of this incredible land as we could. We did not accomplish every last activity we wished we could have on our rather ambitious itinerary. Nonetheless, we did discover a land of numerous stunning & magical wonders. We did see a land of unending natural beauty. We did learn of a land with a monumentally long history of trials, tragedies & triumphs. We did get to meet many kind, humorous, warm & generous people. Our vacation to Ireland was just 2 weeks, but that was time enough to know this is a land easy to love & a land to be sorely missed.
Having previously lived very close to Seattle before the mighty Starbucks empire expanded to every corner of the globe, I was already familiar with Starbucks coffee before most of the rest of Earth's population. As such, when I saw Starbucks in Ireland my natural response was "been there, done that." So when the girlfriend & I were in the mood for some coffee while walking around & exploring Belfast, we bypassed the nearby Starbucks & tried out Costa Coffee instead.
Admittedly, Costa Coffee wasn't a very adventurous alternative to the world's most gigantic coffee chain, but comparing 1 coffee chain to another can be interesting. Though, in this particular instance, it didn't turn out to be that interesting, after all. Decor, layout & service were all principally similar to the megalithic chain of coffee shops from Seattle. I ordered a Cinnamon Latte. It was busy so it took a while. Once I got it, it was decent, maybe even pretty good, but nothing especially magnificent.
Costa Coffee is a coffee chain that I had not tried before coming to Belfast. Compared to the behemoth of all coffee chains, getting my Cinnamon Latte at Costa Coffee was OK overall, but didn't really offer anything new, unique, or better to the whole coffee chain experience. -

I'm in here at least once per week . Latte always nice and warm and the food is always of a decent standard though a little expensive plus the portions are tiny . Great spot for people watching too . You normally have to queue for 5/10 mins and sometimes hard to find a sit on busy days

Costa are a mediocre coffee chain with branches in NI, the UK and down south.
While the food issn't bad here, I think it's waaaay too expensive for what you get. There are a range of (all pre-packaged) sandwiches like BLT's and cajun chicken flatbreads. The thing is the portions are teeney tiny and will not fill you by any stretch of the imagination.
This store is a sort of open plan job situated on the top floor of Castlecourt shopping centre. You're not going to come in here for a quiet chill out coffee, it's more likely you'd pop in here if you were desperate for something to eat after a heavy days shopping in Castlecourt.
The coffees are pretty alright too and they have some nice muffins and rocky roads but I'd rather go somewhere where you can get a fresh;y made sandwich.
